  1. I had a great time exploring Marie’s Organic Garden, her journey from a “black thumb” to teaching kids and transforming ranch orchards really resonated with my own experience, so here’s a personal, conversational take on her services and philosophy:

Marie not only builds gardens but teaches alongside, whether it’s repairing soil or planting orchards, she treats clients like co-gardeners. I love that collaborative spirit. In my own gardening projects, I’ve found that working shoulder-to-shoulder with someone experienced speeds up learning, and it’s just more fun!

The blog shares organic fertilizer ideas, Epsom salt sprays, seaweed tea, worm castings I actually started making seaweed tea last season, and mixing it with worm tea gave my leafy greens a lush boost. It’s a simple, low-cost swap that brings vitality back to tired pots and garden beds.

Beyond soil and plants, Marie’s mission is to build a community, one garden, one family, one classroom at a time. That’s the true beauty of organic work: sharing knowledge, celebrating successes, and sometimes even trials and tribulations together.

When I moved into my first home with clay-heavy soil, I hit the same brick walls Marie described on her journey. What turned things around was adding compost, planting cover crops, and letting the soil rest. My spinach and herbs began thriving in their second season. That slow, steady rebuilding taught me patience, and now it’s something I love teaching others too.

Marie’s services are more than garden design, they’re an invitation to learn and grow with the earth. Her blend of practical know-how, engaging teaching, and regenerative soil work feels approachable yet deeply impactful. If you’re ready to shift your soil from store-bought to self-sustaining, or involve your kids/clients in the process, she’s exactly the kind of mentor I’d turn to.

Have you had similar breakthroughs with compost or DIY teas? I’d love to hear more, gardening is always better when shared!

    Kind regards,
    Martin

    • Thank you, Martin. Yes, the plants love the seaweed tea and worm tea. A great way to revive struggling trees and plants. I will have to try adding both together. Great idea. I suppose you could add 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt to the tea as well. Working with Mother Nature is the way to go if you want a thriving ecosystem and it sounds like you are doing just that. I appreciate your comments, and they help inspire me to keep sharing. I am working on new blogs with my most recent projects, so check in again soon. Email me, and I will add you to my email list. marie@mariesorganicgarden.com Happy gardening to you. May your gardens be healthy and strong.

  2. Wow, this is the first time that I have heard of a garden coach. This would be awesome to have, as I never know what to plant that doesn’t need too much attention, and what sort of plants will do best in this environment and the type of soil we have.

I am going to Google garden coach and see if there is anyone in our city doing this. What an awesome idea for someone who loves gardening to do as a job.

    • Thank you, Michel. I have been coaching from the start of my first compost build in 2012. I found that it is very rewarding for people to understand how important it is to complete the cycle of life for healthy organic gardens. It all starts with the soil health. The soil is the plant’s immune system; healthy soil, healthy plants. Email me if you want a zoom meeting with me for garden coaching, marie@mariesorganicgarden.com

  3. It’s refreshing to see a service that emphasizes organic, sustainable practices while also offering practical help like garden coaching and design. Having tried to start my own organic garden in the past, I know how overwhelming it can be without proper guidance. The idea of learning directly from someone with hands-on experience is incredibly valuable. What stands out here is the personalized support, something that’s often missing in generic gardening resources. For anyone serious about transitioning to organic methods or improving their existing setup, this kind of service could be a game-changer.

  4. I love everything about this!

As a mom trying to grow a small organic garden in our backyard, I’ve had my fair share of trial and error—especially when it comes to composting and dealing with pests the natural way. It’s refreshing to see such a holistic and thoughtful approach to gardening that values both sustainability and soil health. I especially appreciate your compost care service—honestly, our pile has been more “mystery stew” than “black gold” lately.

I’ll definitely be reaching out for tips. Thank you for offering services that empower everyday gardeners like me to keep learning and growing

    • Thanks, Alice. Sounds like you need help with your compost. If it is soup, then you need more dry material. The ratio for healthy compost is 4 parts dry material to 2 parts wet material. If it is too wet, add more dry material
(dry leaves, grass, shredded paper ect) no pine needles.
Doing this will help balance the wet. If you dont have access to dry organic material, you may want to consider going to a local park and collecting dry leaves. I do this and bring a trash can on wheels with a lid, or a big storage container with a lid. People may look at you curiously, but I tell them it’s for my compost, and they always think that’s cool. I hope this helps. I am happy to consult with you on a zoom meeting. Email me to set up a time when you’re ready. marie@mariesorganicgarden.com

  5. Hey, Marie! Thanks for your post! It was informative reading material and made me think of my own garden. It is far from perfect but I love bit wildlish vibe of it.

I only wanted to do things there in organic way without chemicals. Hard fight there is with snails for example, more like they are winning and I giving up lol

Thanks for some great ideas like mulching that keeps weeds away and contain more moisture!

I have a question. As I understood you are helping to set people their own organic gardens? So cool

Thanks for post and doing things you. It is really important to create organic gardens and more and more people want to grow their own food.

    Best regards

    • Thank you, Linda. Yes. I set people up with their gardens and walk them through all the challenges that come up. Sounds like you are challenged with snails. Consider introducing a predator snail to the garden, which will keep them in check. I see this works well for keeping the snail population in check. Happy gardening to you!

  6. This is such a fantastic overview of what Marie’s Organic Garden offers—truly a one-stop shop for anyone serious about sustainable, organic gardening. I really appreciate how you’ve broken down each service so clearly, especially for people who might feel overwhelmed trying to start or improve their garden.

Having worked on my own edible and pollinator-friendly garden for several years, I know firsthand how much difference it makes to get guidance on soil health, composting, and natural pest control. Your compost care and consultation services are a big highlight—compost can be intimidating to get right, but when it works, it transforms the entire garden ecosystem.

The combination of design, installation, and ongoing maintenance you provide is such a smart approach. It’s great to see you prioritize not only aesthetics but also soil regeneration and chemical-free practices that protect pollinators and wildlife.

Thanks for sharing all these details—this sounds like an invaluable resource for gardeners at any level who want to grow in harmony with nature.

  9. I’ve personally used organic garden services in my area—hiring professionals for soil prep, pest control, and seasonal planting—and the impact has been incredible. Similar to Marie’s offerings, having someone knowledgeable handle composting and pest prevention not only saved me time but improved plant health dramatically. After one season of expert support, my tomatoes were noticeably more vibrant. Have you seen particular benefits in yield or plant resilience that come from your customized service plans?

  11. Marie, your offerings are absolutely spot-on for what today’s organic gardeners truly need. As someone who has been practicing organic gardening for years, I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to see such a well-rounded service list that puts soil health and sustainability at the center. Too many gardeners underestimate the value of quality compost and natural pest management—your coaching and compost consultations could make all the difference for new growers trying to avoid synthetic shortcuts. 12. Hi Marie. What a beautiful range of services! I must admit I’m not familiar with Marie’s Organic Garden, but I’m so glad I came across this. I’ve been slowly working on building up my own garden at home. Mostly learning by doing, and it’s really encouraging to see such a well-rounded, organic approach laid out so clearly.

The garden coaching and compost care especially caught my attention. I’ve been experimenting with composting at home, but it’s definitely been a trial-and-error process, so the idea of a little guidance sounds incredibly helpful. Also, I love that everything here emphasizes soil health, sustainability, and pollinator-friendly practices — that’s exactly the direction I want to take my own garden in.

I might not be local to Ventura County, but I have friends there that I visit from time to time, and I will definitely stop by next time for some inspiration. In the meantime this whole post gave me a lot of great ideas to try out myself.

Thanks for sharing your passion and expertise. It really shines through in everything you offer!

    All the best,

    Michael

  13. Hi @Marie,

A great showcase of services — it’s clear your garden isn’t just growing plants, it’s growing connection, care, and sustainability. I am impressed with the effort you have put in here.

I especially like how you’ve mixed education, composting, and seasonal produce into a holistic offering. It’s not just organic, its about a great outcome.. The way you invite people to learn, share, and participate is warm – and contrasts to much of today’s fast-paced, disconnected living.

Quick question: Have you found any particular workshop or service that creates the most community engagement or ‘aha moments’ from your visitors?

Thanks again for cultivating such a thoughtful space—online and in the soil.  I am a Dad – I couldn’t resist that one.

    Warm regards,
    Mark

  14. Wow, this is such a refreshing and well-rounded approach to gardening! I really love how Marie’s Organic Garden blends sustainability with practical support for gardeners at every level. The compost care and garden coaching offerings especially caught my eye — it’s not always easy to find guidance that focuses on soil health and long-term success without harsh chemicals.

Quick question: For the garden design service, does Marie also work with smaller urban spaces like patios or balcony gardens? I’d love to create something lush and functional in my small space but wasn’t sure if that’s something you work with. Thanks again for all the great info — this post has me inspired to dig in (literally)!

    Thanks

    • Thanks, Jason. Yes. I work with any size space. I currently live in an apartment and have been gardening on my balcony, testing which fruits and veggies work better than others. I am always experimenting. I have been successfully composting with a small worm farm and growing cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce. Watering is a challenge since I don’t have a hose, and smaller containers require frequent watering. Feel free to email me questions and book a coaching session with me.
